The Arbor Press
This is an arbor press. It seems like a very common and well known device to me
but I've received a number of questions on it whenever I've mentioned it in corresponding
with other knife makers so I decided to picture it here.
The purpose of this press is to allow you to exert a large amount of force over a small area.
In this way you can press an oilite bearing into a blade which is what I mostly use it for.
This is one of the smallest arbor presses. It weighs only 25 pounds but, through it's
mechanical advantage, can exert about half a ton of force on anything placed under
the ram.
