Critters That Hang Around in My Yard

I don't go anywhere looking for these critters. All these pictures were taken in my front yard....


I believe this is a female Evening Grosbeak. It showed up one day, wasn't the least bit afraid of me, ate some sunflower seeds, and went on its way...



This is a male Sapsucker. He's my alarm clock. Every morning he's tapping on anything made of metal trying to attract a mate. I hope he finds one SOON!



This is Blue, a Stellar's Jay. He's quite a mimic and is very entertaining with his sound effects. He'll come when I call him and loves peanuts...



In the wood pile one morning. He hung around long enough to eat some tuna, then he was gone...



One of several Snowshoe Hare that live with me. They completely ignore me, sometimes even run across my feet. Most of them live under the cabin...



Of course, there are lots of deer around, both Whitetail and Mulie. These are Mulies...



Not all the critters here are cuddly looking. This is a really large, warty, slimy looking toad...



Wild turkey are a bit more shy than some of my other neighbors. I wonder why?





A little tiny bat. Sometimes he flies around my head in the cabin while I'm watching tv. He's busy chasing bugs and doesn't seem interested in watching the movie...





Several of these Gray Jays will come when I call and land on my hand...









Several different types of Hummingbirds hang around here...





These tiny Chickadees think they run the place. I've had them land on my head and ride around chirping their teensy brains out like some sun maddened Mahout on an elephant...



Ya, I know, you've seen Chipmunks all over my website but he forced me to include his picture here by using his Chipmunk mind power on me....



This guy just passed by a few minutes ago. His pads measure about 4" across, bigger than the palm of my hand. I'd guess he exceeds 150 pounds, just a big fluffy kitty. And if you believe that...



A neighbor took this picture about a mile and a half up the road from here. I cleaned the picture up quite a bit but you can see that her hands were shaking pretty badly. Too bad, because not only is it difficult to get a picture of one of these but, in this case, there were actually THREE of them all together!



Look at the size of this spider! This thing measures about 8 inches across! Even worse, it has 10 legs but only two eyes! Horrible! Horrible!
